Almost all jobs in the United States, from truck drivers to child care providers to software developers, involve work activities that can be performed, or at least augmented, by generative artificial intelligence.
This is stated in a report prepared by the job search portal Indeed.com.
Generative AI is capable of generating high-quality content based on the input data used to train it.
“AI will likely impact every industry to some degree,” said Indeed.com economist Corey Stahl.
Nearly one in five (19.7%) occupations are most at risk, including information technology, mathematics and information design, according to the report. This is because at least 80% of the workload for them can be done quite well by generative AI.
Indeed.com researchers analyzed more than 55 million job postings and found that generative AI could perform between 50% and almost 80% of job actions in almost half (45.7%) of those jobs.
Jobs that require manual labor and personal contact will be the least affected by AI, according to the report. These include, for example, nurses and veterinarians.
