Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin met with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky on Monday to discuss issues related to US military assistance to kyiv.
“It was an honor to meet with President Zelensky today in kyiv to reaffirm America’s unwavering support for Ukraine,” Austin said on the social network X (formerly Twitter).
“I am here today to deliver an important message: the United States will continue to support Ukraine in its fight for freedom against Russian aggression, both today and in the future,” Austin wrote.
The head of the military department arrived in kyiv earlier on Monday. He is accompanied by the head of the United States European Command.
US Ambassador to kyiv Bridget Brink also described Austin’s visit as confirmation of Washington’s “unwavering support for Ukraine in its fight for freedom.”
Next month (December 6-7) a military-industrial conference between the United States and Ukraine will be held in Washington.
The goal of the conference is to promote an increase in weapons production in Ukraine.
