Houthi rebels shot down a US drone flying over the Red Sea, a US official told Voice of America.
The Iran-backed Houthi rebels reported the news earlier on Wednesday: “Our air defenses were able to shoot down a US MQ-9 (drone) that was conducting hostile surveillance and espionage in Yemeni territorial waters as part of US military support to Israel. . ”said the group.
In October, the US destroyer USS Karni shot down several missiles and drones fired from Yemen by Houthi rebels, which the Pentagon said were headed “along the Red Sea, potentially toward targets in Israel.”
