The head of the Ukrainian President’s Office said Tuesday that delaying the delivery of American aid to kyiv would risk Ukraine losing the war with Russia.
According to Andrei Yermak, if the provision of assistance is delayed, there will be “a great risk that we will remain in the same position we are in now.”
“And, of course, this will make it impossible to continue efforts to liberate (the Ukrainian territories) and will create a great risk of losing this war,” he emphasized.
Recall that on Monday White House representatives said that the United States is running out of funds to help Ukraine.
In October, the Biden administration asked Congress for nearly $106 billion to fund aid to Ukraine, Israel and U.S. border security, but Republicans, who control the House with a slim majority, rejected the package.
U.S. officials hope they can still win approval for a package that will provide significant aid.
Ermak said the rejection of direct budget support to Ukraine represents a threat, as the Ukrainian government expects a budget deficit of $43 billion next year.
“Of course, without this direct budget support, it will be difficult to remain… in the same positions… for people to really survive… in a situation where the war continues,” he said.
Yermak, visiting Washington for the second time in as many weeks, called on Congress to vote quickly on the aid package and said kyiv has a plan for next year.
“We have a plan, and that plan… includes military operations… includes diplomatic activities and, of course, includes our cooperation in the field of communications and information,” he said.
