A record number of Americans are expected to travel by land or air for Thanksgiving, which falls on Thursday.
The busiest days for air travel will be Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Sundays.
The Transportation Security Administration expects 2.6 million passengers to be screened on Tuesday and 2.7 million on Wednesday.
However, the busiest day will be Sunday, when 2.9 million passengers are expected at the airports, slightly surpassing the record set on June 30.
Meanwhile, the American Automobile Association projects that 55.4 million Americans will travel at least 50 miles from home.
The worst traffic congestion is expected to occur on Wednesday.
