Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced the United States’ full support for the Jewish State’s ongoing ground offensive against Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip.
At the same time, he said, the two countries remain firmly opposed to growing international calls for a ceasefire to stop the war between Israel and Hamas.
“I very much appreciate American support for the destruction of Hamas and the return of the hostages,” the Israeli leader said.
They are about 140 remaining hostages taken by Hamas during the October 7 attack on southern Israel.
“After intense dialogue with President (Joe) Biden and his team, we have full support for a ground invasion and blocking international pressure to end the war,” Netanyahu said.
However, Netanyahu acknowledged that he and Biden disagree on the “day after Hamas,” when the war will end.
“I hope that we will reach an agreement here too,” said the Israeli prime minister.
