Deterrence in the Middle East is working, Pentagon deputy press secretary Sabrina Singh said.
According to her, the United States wants the war between Israel and Hamas to be limited to the Gaza Strip and not spread to other territories in the region.
“We don’t see this war spreading to neighboring countries or the region,” Singh said.
However, according to her, Iranian-backed groups in Syria and Iraq continue to attack US troops carrying out missions to destroy the Islamic State.
“From October 17 to today, there have been 55 attacks on US forces,” Singh said. “There were 27 attacks on US forces in Iraq and 28 attacks in Syria.”
According to the Department of Defense, 59 US service members were injured in these attacks.
“As of today, all 59 have returned to duty,” Singh said.
