Senior White House officials met with Ukrainian government officials in Krakow, Poland, to discuss further improving chemical and biological security in Ukraine as it defends against Russian aggression.
The meeting was chaired by Undersecretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Alexey Solovyov and Deputy Undersecretary of State for International Security and Nonproliferation Programs at the State Department Catherine Inslee.
The meeting reaffirmed the US government’s commitment to partnering with the Ukrainian government. Both sides agreed to deepen bilateral cooperation to strengthen Ukraine’s ability to deter, detect and respond to chemical and biological threats. Given the ongoing threat to Ukraine’s national security, strengthening the country’s capacity and promoting cooperation remain a critical cornerstone of long-term U.S. support for Ukraine.
Representatives of the two countries agreed to reconvene relevant experts in the coming weeks to chart future paths for strategic interactions and activities.
