The mayors of Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles and New York are seeking to meet with President Joe Biden to discuss the situation of migrants arriving in their cities.
Democratic mayors want to discuss the possibility of getting federal help to manage the surge of immigrants who they say are arriving with little coordination, support or resources from the presidential administration.
In their letter, seen by The Associated Press, the mayors say that while they appreciate Biden’s efforts, more needs to be done to alleviate the situation in their cities.
Biden has been increasingly criticized by members of his party on the issue, while Republicans believe he is taking too soft a stance on border security.
