The United States has asked its European and other allies to increase their support for Ukraine because it wants it to win the war.
“The United States and the EU stand firmly on Ukraine’s side,” State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said. “We believe now is the time to increase this support.” “This is vital for our national security and the security of our European partners.”
Miller said the United States appreciates the EU’s continued efforts to provide financial support and hopes the EU can quickly agree on funding for 2024 and beyond.
A State Department spokesman declined to discuss the possibility of a Russian victory in the war.
“I am not going to discuss this issue. This is a hypothetical situation, which I will not go into because we want Ukraine to win this war,” she said.
“That is why we believe it is so important that the United States Congress provide Ukraine with the security assistance we have requested so that it can win this war,” Miller concluded.
