The United States cannot remain a party to the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe after Russia withdrew from that key post-Cold War agreement.
This was stated by the spokesman for the White House National Security Council, John Kirby.
“I don’t know how we can justify (the United States) not withdrawing from the treaty after Russia does,” Kirby said.
According to him, the United States will fulfill all obligations to its allies under Article Five of the NATO treaty, which could lead to changes.
