President Joe Biden on Sunday offered his condolences to the families of military personnel who died when a military plane crashed during a training flight on the night of Friday, Nov. 10, in the eastern Mediterranean.
“Our military members risk their lives every day for our country,” the president said in a statement released by the White House. “They willingly put themselves in danger to keep the American people safe. “The bravery and dedication they show every day is a lasting representation of the best we have.”
Yesterday, during a ceremony at Arlington Cemetery, the President laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and gave a speech expressing his gratitude to the U.S. military for its service to the country.
“As we honor veterans this weekend, we reaffirm the sacred responsibility we have toward those who volunteer to serve our nation and their families,” the president said in a statement Sunday. “We are praying for the families of all our fallen soldiers today and every day.”
Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin also issued a statement. He stressed that the causes of the accident are being investigated.
“As we continue to gather more information about this fatal accident, we must remember that the brave men and women who protect our great country risk their lives every day to keep our country safe. They represent the best of America. “We will never forget his service to his country and his sacrifices,” the Pentagon chief said in a statement.
