The White House welcomed the two-day extension of the humanitarian pause in the war between Israel and Hamas.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, National Security Council strategic communications director John Kirby said he expected the Americans to be among the 20 hostages expected to be freed soon.
Recall that it is believed that among those captured and held by Hamas militants are between eight and nine American citizens.
Earlier Monday, Qatar’s Foreign Ministry announced the extension of the truce in Gaza by two days.
“An agreement has been reached to extend the humanitarian truce in the Gaza Strip for another two days,” wrote a representative of the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the social network X (formerly Twitter).
